How-To: Install Vista and later OSes from USB Flash Drive PDF Print E-mail

Install Vista, WHS, Server 2008, Windows 7 from USB media.

Needed:
4 GB or larger USB flash drive
OS install DVD
Computer with Vista or later installed

Caution!   These instructions will lead to the elimination of data on the USB drive.  Back-up all data on the target USB drive.  Other drives are at risk for data loss if these instructions are not followed.   Remove any removable drives except target drive to ensure data safety.
